Suhana Khan stormed the Indian Internet, thanks to her debut featuring on the cover of Vogue India’s August issue.
Both Shah Rukh Khan and producer-entrepreneur Gauri Khan, took to their own social media accounts to formally introduce their daughter into the world and invite the team who worked tirelessly to make the shoot a success.
A tweet by King Khan – “Holding her in my arms again thanks to Vogue. ‘What imperfect carriers of love we are…’ except when it comes to our children. So sending u all my love & a big hug. Hello Suhana Khan!”.
However, the shoot has not gone down too well with the Twitterverse. Twitter is busy trying to resolve the mystery on why a student, theatre enthusiast, future star’ featured on the cover. Obviously, the nepotism debate has been sparked by it around again. While others speculated her Bollywood debut was on the cards.
“I know nepotism, I understand easy starts and speedy access as a result of genes or connections with people who hold the reigns. If you are untalented, no matter how much you try you will bite the dust. Time will tell whether #SuhanaKhan’s safar will be Suhana whatsoever, wrote an individual.
But, Suhana Khan found support in several customers as they came forward to shield the celebrity’s daughter. Karan Johar has been ecstatic. She is stunning, soulful and a bonafide talent! Welcome to the spotlight my darling! In its harshest moments, it will envelop you with immense love….and thank you for not calling me UNCLE! Love you,” Johar wrote.
It’s no news for any of us who nepotism is rampant in Bollywood. And just once you think the screen of this can not get any more blatant, we find a new case to roll our eyes at.
Let us bear in mind that Suhana hasn’t done a Bollywood movie. She is still in school and has expressed her desire to be an actress. In a universe where celeb kids are being made more aware of their privilege, this gross display of it’s had people talking and even outraged.
It also did not help Vogue India’s situation that they disabled the comments for the Instagram posts announcing her as the cover star.
Of course, while the rest of us attempt to call out nepotism in the Hindi film industry, the cycle of privilege will probably go on, and nothing will prevent this. King Khan said,”I hope it is not taken as an entitlement because she appears to be Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter but I expect it’s regarded as a duty that Suhana currently has.” “I think this will remove some of this entitlement she’s because she happens to be my daughter.
I’ve been gifted to be in the business of numerous fantastic women, and I hope my daughter could join in and become one of them. So thank you very much for giving her this opportunity,” he further added.
“She’s 18, she’s lovely, delicate, sweet and extremely shy but also incredibly strong. And I only want to thank you those who were behind all this and for making her look so nice. I will be pleased with her when she is proud of himself and also the occupation that she does and she will do that,” he reasoned.
